Always a Song in His Heart

By: Carmen Held-Tauchar

When I think of Paul, I think of kindness, music, corgis, and laughter.
He had a song ready for every occasion. One of my favorite memories was a drive to Fresno to the State Championship for High School Jazz Choirs, or maybe it was honors choir. Tanner and Celeste were part of it, and Paul had a song for almost every thing we talked about or experienced on the drive. It was so much fun.
I loved when he and Sherrie shared their musical gifts with us in church.
When he and Sherrie were getting ready to move from Folsom to Sacramento, and we were all cleaning the house on Whistle Stop, guess who was singing while vacuuming. Of course, it was Paul.
He loved their corgis. They were so much fun. I was grateful that he and Sherrie trusted me enough to be their "ersatz-mom" sometimes when they were traveling.
I feel so blessed that I got to know Paul Chretien, and I am happy that he made all of our lives, but especially Sherrie's and the kids' life so much richer and happier.
